Survey
Definition
A method of data collection using questionnaires or interviews to gather information from a group.
Example
A researcher wishes to gather data related to the relationship between life satisfaction and stress. The researcher distributes surveys to the study participants to gather the data.
Why It Matters
Surveys are one of the most common tools in research because they make it easy to collect information from a lot of people. When well-designed, they can provide valuable insights about attitudes, behaviors, or experiences. But they also need to be clear, reliable, and fair — otherwise, the data can be misleading.
