The limbic system is a group of interconnected brain structures that play a crucial role in regulating emotions, memory, and behaviors related to survival, such as fear, aggression, and reward-seeking. It includes key regions like the amygdala (involved in processing fear and emotional responses), the hippocampus (critical for forming new memories), the hypothalamus (regulates hormones and body temperature), and parts of the thalamus (relays sensory information). Together, these structures help us respond to threats, form attachments, and make decisions based on emotions.
